Our Board of Directors recently passed a motion that required one of the Board Members to pass information to our Neighborhood Watch Coordinator that this person had been refusing to submit. The subject Board member was given 10 days to comply. The Board member refuses to comply. What can the rest of the Board do? Per the docs, the Board can vote to dismiss a Board member for any reason. Has any one else experienced an obstinate Board member?

Thanks,
LH

Well, I'm not sure anyone can pass a "rule" requiring someone to give up information - have you tried some good old torture? But if your documents say the board can dismiss any board member without cause, what are you waiting for? You obviously have the votes. Harold

Linda, check your By-laws again. Usually the Board can not remove a Board member; only the members can do this at a duly called members meeting. I would ask the Board member to resign so the Board could appoint a Board member who is willing to contribute to the tasks which need to be done by the Board. Also, the President can assign this duty to another Board member.

Thanks for your reply. Fortunately for us, the Board can remove a Board member with or without cause. We are a relatively small community and we just don't want to create angry vendictive neighbors....but, the subject Board member was just recently elected (by his own vote)and immediately failing to comply with the Boards decisions is not a good way to begin his service. Thanks for your advice.
