None of our subdivision's governing documents mention anything about an architectural committee. Does anyone know if we can still form one or would we need to get community approval?

Carol,

Most gov docs give the board the authority to form committees. However, forming an architectural committee would take quite a bit of thought. For example, would the BOD be resp. for approving the requests received?; who would be resp. for writing up the architectural guidelines? Those are just 2 things to consider. The board may want to form a committee to address all the issues and come up with a plan. BTW, are there any architectural guidelines in your CCRs?

Thank you. There are minimial guidelines in the CCRs regarding fences and repairs, but nothing beyond that.

Yea, what Mary said.

Forming committees is one thing, having authority is another.
