I am working to create a board portal using one of the free document sharing websites. My goal is to allow for document collaboration but more importantly keep a repository of association documents that the board can easily have access to (minutes, ES minutes, financials, bank statements, contracts, etc) and also keep a folder with that months board packet. Our MC does not send a board packet before the meeting we just get documents throughout the month and if a board member puts something on the agenda and sends out background info we just get that as an email from the member. Seemly every month someone is without some of the documents we need to discuss because they forgot to print something out.

Thoughts on either of these services? I am particularly curious on how easy it is to move documents between folders (i.e. from the current board packet folder to the ES minutes folder, bank statements folder, etc)

Thanks

I just discovered SkyDrive as well so if you have used that I would appreciate your feedback.

Thanks

Chris,

I have been using Windows Live as a repository for several years. Nearly all of our docs are stored there. Originally, I provided the Board with a link so they could read and document.

A new piece of software - SDExplorer allows you to treat the remote drive as a true disk drive. It actually becomes an explorer window. I find it far more effective than SkyDrive.

Chris,

Just remember that anything placed on a web site or stored on the web should be considered compromised (as it could easily happen). Therefore, personal information should not be part of what is placed there. This would include things like membership lists, financial records you don't want public, etc.

You may also want to take a look at www.wiggio.com

I have no affiliation, just am aware of it's existence.

A new piece of software - SDExplorer

Thats where it starts to get complicated for other people. I know so many people who don't even know how to install software. They don't even cant even find it after they click download. Many people in my neighborhood use Macintosh, so an OS specific solution like SDExplorer wouldn't work anyway.
