We are a new community. We the homeowners just elected a board taking power from the developer. Can we now make changes to the ridiculous rules that are in place now? Someone said we couldn’t make changes until 2014.

John often developers put clauses in the CC&R's that prohibit amending them for X number of years. You need to read the CC&R's and find the section that deals with how to amend the documents and see just what it says.

Just curious, if they were so "ridiculous," then why did you agree to abide by them when you purchased your property?

Took power? Did the developer hand over control of the association? Or did you just elect a BOD and assume your in control?

If the developer didnt hand over the association to you along with the common areas, your BOD has no control.
