In Minnesota
We live in a rather small condo style townhome phase of the development. There neighboring phase(s) in the development are row style(side to side) and twin style townhomes. The condo style we live in are back to back and side to side with 6 and 8 units in one structure.
Is it possible to merge our condo group in to their townhome association? I've read that to merge you need approval from 75% of the mergees but haven't been able to find anything about the logistics of merging two differently classified groups. I know I shouldn't ask on this board if that's legal but maybe somebody went through a similar situation and can share their experiences?
Thanks.

JohnK,
This is probably a rarity. I would look first at your documents. I know mine contain some sections that allow for absorbing another association. Never paid much attention to it. You could look at the CAN Library highlighted in yelloe, left on this page. pick your state and see if there is any state statutes that can help.

I am confused about what you want to merge and what you want to end up with. Is a "Condo" style a Condo association and is their townhouses a condo or an HOA. I expect to mix the two different types would really take some doing and cost a bundle and someone is going to lose their independence, such as it is at present.

In Pa., our declaration states a unanimous vote is required to increase the number of units or change boundaries of the units. I wish it was more specific
