I am sure this has been mentioned before. I would suggest the the powers that are might like to utilize the search feature on this site. Recently the subject of fences has come up and a comment was made about a prior post. The poster of this comment was SallyS2. Search SallyS2 and see if you can pull up any reference with her name on it as Posted SallyS2.

Now, search "Fences" and try and make any sense of what each reference cited refers to. There is no date cited on the reference blurb, there is no indication of who posted the comment about fences in the blurb.

So you are left with going through each and every blurb to see if it pertains to what you are searching for. I gotta ask: who figured this one out, your old search program made sense. this one doesn't. IMHO.

Anyone want to add to this, please do.

And that Glen could, well, another indication of his superpowers.

Michele,
You got that right about Glen being able to find out stuff from damn near anywhere. I don't even WANT to know how he is able to access all the material he pulls up.

If he has any secrets about how to sift through the references that are displayed when you are able to recall something on the search site, I wish he would tell me.

Incidently we have a couple of relatively new posters that are doing a pretty good job of researching codes and laws from different states. You better watch out Glen, some one will steal your thunder.

Michele: You make it sound like Boards are rubber stamps to some higher decrees. My observation has been that the Boards actually set the tone and direction of the association, we have good boards and bad boards...........but I can believe the Boards do hold some control of the operation of the association, and the influence of the different members are reflected in how the Board operates and how the Board is perceived, and what is produced by the Boards. They are way more than pencil pushers.

I agree with you to a certain degree. Boards do help to set a tone in the development, or rather, the personalities of the directors on the board can. But they really are limited by what powers the documents give them.

There are, indeed, bad boards. Unfortunately, those are the ones that get in the news and it certainly doesn't give a pretty picture.

I'm also not trying to imply that boards are rubber stamps, but, let's face it, there really isn't a lot of "stuff" for boards to do beyond what their governing documents allow.

Most of the activity by and actions of a board of directors is pretty mundane and boring, and yet still personally time consuming. (Which is one reason why so few people bother to get involved.)

Many associations go years without anything even resembling an amendment or rule or regulation being drafted.

I also think the most critical time for a board is the time when it is least capable of acting, and that's during or immediately after transition.

The learning curve and lack of involvement by the majority of the membership can make or break an association during that time.

But once the organization gets over that hurdle, and sincere individuals step forward to make their organization work, it seems to all come out in the wash.

(caveat: this HOATalk member is under the influence of some very nice pain killers right now, and possibly for the coming week. Rambling comments highly possible. Read at your own risk.)

Yoweeee!
I have been waiting for this opportunity. Ref your last sentence. I seem to recall a long ago picture of a rising hippie and starter husband. So many years later we hear drugs are still on the scene. If by chance you should happen to run out, let me know, I got a drawer full of pills all colors and sizes.

I have grown accustomed to your charms, like breathing in and breathing out.

The fact that you drive me crazy, has little relevance anyway.

No I agree the search feature has become pretty much useless. I knew the post I was looking for was made in December so I jumped back to the beginning of December and used ctrl+F with Sally’s name and checked page after page until I found the one I wanted.

Studies show that 5 out of 4 people have problems with fractions
