I am attempting to post an actual link vs. just the web address. If this works the format would be the following:

1. Place at start of address: 2. add the address of the link
3. follow that with: " target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" class="text-blue-600 hover:text-blue-800">
4. add a name to the link
5. follow that with:

If it works the following will be a working link to google

http://www.google.com/

It didn't work. I guess we have to stick with the cut and paste method of getting to links.

The use of brackets [ ] for hypertext code is generally for BBC (or BB code) type forums.

This forum uses HTML markup and not BB code, so all the hypertext code should be surrounded by these: < >

Plus, BB code nomenclature or syntax is a little different (some say easier) than HTML markup, so you would need to know what the syntax is for activating a link in HTML on those forums that use HTML over BB code.

John's link to the W3schools.com tutorial for hyperlinking text in HTML is a good one, but just wanted you to know why your bracket (BBC-style) codes didn't work.

This forum doesn't speak that "language."

You can usually tell if you need HTML or BB code on a forum if the forum actually contains some language similar to this in its posting permissions section:

BB code is ON/OFF
[IMG] code is ON/OFF
HTML code is ON/OFF

If you don't see the mention of BB code or [ ] information anywhere, the forum probably uses primarily HTML markup.

(for those who know I was redundant using the phrase "HTML markup" or "HTML markup language," I apologize.)

HTML actually means "HyperText Markup Language" It's just a language that browsers "read" in order to know how to display everything on a web page, from text, to pictures, to hyperlinks, etc.

Hope I didn't add to the confusion.
