A HAPPLY NEW YEAR TO ALL.

As the internal optomist, I have great hopes for the New Year, many more to all.

You guys deserve an extra pat on the back.

WHAT guys Robert??? What about YOU, TOO???

You're the voice of "reason" and "insight" and "brain-picking" on this site. YOU deserve a pat on the back, TOO!

I just put in a ten hour day as a retail slob at a big box store and gosh-almighty I sure see the "best" come out of people. It's always so heartwarming to see people wait until the very last minute to do their "slacker" shopping....because GOSH!!!....they made Christmas on DECEMBER 25th this year and nobody told them!!!

So they trampse to the malls, fight for parking spaces, give people the finger, demand things from stores (things that sold out WEEKS AGO), then blame US for their lazy, unplanned shopping.

I LOVE the hundreds of people who call us ALL DAY LONG to inquire what time we close. Then they hit the holiday happy hours to slosh down a few to have "courage" to hit the stores to do what they don't normally do, all year----SHOP FOR MOM AND WIFE.

Their first question is: Wherez the restroom---or john--or bathroom--or if they're REALLY happy, they ask: "Do you have a place to p-- in this store???"

After they're "relieved" they amble up to the counter and ask if we have give certifs; or gift certs; or cards gifts; (at this point we help them out) and grab a gift card for them. They actually ask US how much we should give Mom or the "Old Lady". This is where we have some fun...you can only imagine. They pay for the card with the leftover money from the bar and stagger out into the night.

Ahhh---tis the season.

Happy Holidays to all my friends at HOATalk and I hope you enjoyed my little story about Retail Hell.

Anna,
I think with a little editing your story could rank up there with the night before Xmas.

Of course you would have to take a strong leading woman roll. The way I see it all ending is you slip into your wonder woman outfit, complete with a red hat and a bag over your shoulder, filled with mace and pepper spray and a some gold stars. Come around 9 when the crowds are heaviest you slip out of the store, screech up to the entrance in your Mazeratti and bust in the front door.

Invite each and every rude complaining customer out to the parking lot and clean their clock for them. Hang all the bodies from the light posts and drive away into the night singing O Christmas tree, O Christmas tree. Go home kiss the cat and throw your old man out the door. Sit down and eat a half gallon of Ben and Jerry's, call your parents and thank them for making you Christmas Woman of 2009. Now, don't you feel better.

Incidently Xmaswonderwoman, you sense of humor is shining through your post..........Merry Christmas again.

Robert---I wish you all the happiness of the season! At times it seems we're the only ones who can "appreciate" the sarcasm thrown around here and understand it is only "tongue in cheek".

It's not like I have no "life" either....my man is sitting on the couch reading the paper; my bird is sitting on the coffee table waiting for me to put him to bed; I have gifts for my neighbors, waiting to be wrapped and delivered.

I just got a knock on my door and it was the little screaming, yelling, rule-breaking, uncontrollable, disturbing, disruptive, upsetting, annoying nine-year old triplets who live here (who's parent has received NUMEROUS rule violation letters about them for breaking the rules) and they stood out there in the cold and sang to me Christmas carols, gave me homemade cookies and each gave me a hug....

Being a board member is a bitch....they really touched my heart...and made me realize ONCE AGAIN how tough it is to do this job.

xmas wonderwomanboard person.

The little shits touched the hearts of everyone that reads your post. I hope it means something to the Board members also. I am one of the biggest bitchers in my condo, have been for twenty years but I mean it sincerely when I TELL them they did a good job about something. I suspect the parents of the kids are sort of saying that to you, and maybe even the kids, rotten as they are.

curious?
Shouldn't the bird be sitting on the paper and the man be waiting to be taken to bed?

We are going to get booted off this site!

Oh my gawd Robert!!! I just now got back on to read your reply and my Man is still laughing over what you wrote!!!

He said, "Thanks for the suggestion!!!." So he put the newspaper in the bird cage and went to bed.

Happy New Year!

Hope you all had a great holiday!

My house was packed for days.

Now we're heading out for one of the Bowl games (Music City Bowl in Nashville).

Hope everyone has a great New Years day, too!

Stay safe!
