We have two townhouse associations that are separated by one apartment building (Small - 8 units) One townhouse group is 12 units the other 14 units. The 12 unit has a management company the 14 unit does the management themselves. The age of the 12 and 14 unit Assoc are both about the same age and built by the same builder. The 12 unit Assoc wants to fire the management company and merge with the other? Can this be done? or should the 12 unit Assoc just do it themselves? Does anyone have experience with merging or managing their own association?

Gary, yes you can merge the two associations. Read your CC&Rs which may contain inf. It will require approval of both associations and probably an attorney to accomplish the merger.

The association which has the management company Agreement can terminate as per the conditions in the Agreement. The combined association can elect to self manage, negotiate a new Agreement with the current management company or hire a different management company.
