This is what the rules say:

ARROWHEAD HOMEOWNERS ASSOCIATION, INC.
ARCHITECTURAL CRITERIA
ARTICLE V, PAGE 12
5. ARCHITECTURAL REVIEW COMMITTEE

a) A homeowner may repaint their home and trim the exact same color as was originally applied without approval of the Architectural Committee.
b) A homeowner shall acquire the Architectural Committee's approval to paint their home a different color.

******************************

The question is with what "original" means, some think:

- "original" means the color that was first put on the house 15 years ago when they were built.

- "original" means the last approved color that was put on the house.

What do you think?

Thanks,

Mitch

I think original means just that...the first coat of paint applied, regardless of any other colors that may have been approved in the past 15 years.

I think if you aren't changing the existing color you are good to go.

I think that you could replace the paint with the same color your home currently is without approval, or you could paint the house the color it was at the time of purchase (given you have the proof).

I would think that as long as your house met requirements by Architectural Review Committee, or it had in the past for a particular color, then it should be fine.

I think the Rules need some clarification...just to be sure

I think it refers to both - a) refers to the original house color scheme (although I wonder whether an application was submitted by the developer 15 years ago), while b) indirectly refers to the color scheme most recently approved by the AC.

Mitch,

There's only one definition of original: "having to do with an origin; FIRST, EARLIEST". If the BOD or the A/C is having trouble with this rule perhaps it's time to amend it. Instead of saying "the exact same color as was originally applied", why not change that to "the same color it is presently painted". Since that color was most likely approved by the A/C (whether it was the original color or a different color) it should be OK to be used again. In my assn, approval is required even for the existing color.
