Has anyone had experience being appointed as a receiver for condo or HOAs? Is the process for becoming appointed difficult?

AnneH,
No, not me,

To broaden this discussion I believe I know a receiver has to be assigned by the court after justifiable proof that is the best selection. I know the larger the association the more expert the receiver will be. I do not think a court would just select a random homeowner to be a receiver and I doubt the receiver could have a vested interest in the property. None of this I say is other than opinion, as always. In Sc the case would be assigned to a Master in Equity who will consult with both side or one side, hear evidence establish fact and render instructions. He could decide a receiver is not the way to go as I feel sure if you are talking diestablishment of an association, there can be other considerations or choices.

Anne,

I have no experience in this area, but I would think a court would appoint an attorney, an HOA mgmt company or a company that specializes in receivership (there are such businesses!). I doubt a homeowner, such as you or I, would be appointed!
