Thanks. I haven't had use of your search function for some time. Now it works! I am so relieved.

I don't care for it. First, remove the ads. That is annoying. Second, give me more options than just a keyword search. Third, put something like dates so I know when the post was made without having to get and look at each entry. I will say it is fast, but not useful.

RobertG........adds?

I found if you put in a year date, you can narrow things a little.

It might help if only a couple years would be posted and listed chronological.

It is fast I can say that.

Hope this helps.

I just did a search for the word "lawyer's". I got one result and 3 Google ads (not adds) before the answer and 5 after. That is a bit too many advertisements for me.

I don't mind the ads, or the adds.

It's part of life on a "free" internet.

If you search on a person's name, none come up at all!

What I DON'T like is that instead of opening in a new window or new tab, it takes you away from the site completely.

I've never been a fan of links that do that. You tend to reduce your site traffic that way. Too easy for the person to move on to something else if they don't find what they want.

Michelle and Robert G,
I searched "turn-over", didn't get any adds and a bunch of other stuff. Like all search engines, theye are driven by keywords.

I don't know about now, but before you had to search names using the Posters sign in name, e.g. "RobertR1" as opposed to robert.

I will try this new one.

RobertR, I don't mind the ads.

They don't bother me at all.

Though I wish it would open the search results in a second window.

Note to HOATalk: Nice upgrade.

Note to Michele: If you use Explorer, left-clicking the back arrow on the far upper left of your screen a couple times will bring you back to the page where you requested Search.

John, I'm aware of that, but it only takes one line of code on the link to make it open in a new window for everyone.

There are times I forget to use the right-click if I don't use a link very frequently.

And, with all due respect, it's a pain in the tuckous to back arrow back to where I was.

My point is (and this is from my background developing websites), you want to make it as easy and transparent as possible to KEEP people on your site.

When you send them to other pages (even if it's a search), and they have to use multiple steps to get back to where they were, well, they just don't do it.

The key is to reduce the risk of them leaving the site by making it easier for them to stay.

Alex,
I agree completly and also with Glen.

I'll give you an example. I wanted to look at a Posting by Don. I typed in Don in the search box and I think the number given was there are 3584 (or something) and it then listed all these postings. However, there was no way you could tell when these listing were posted. No dates given on the reference. Needless to say I did not find out what I wanted to know.

If I recall right the reference listing in the old system did give dates and in fact were listed chronological.

If anyone knows how to send this info to Hoatalk please copy it and send it on. Or tell me how........I forgot.

Do you mean send an email? If so, go to Help, then choose Contact HOA Support.

I agree completely, the new feature is too broad.
