Recently, I engaged two recruiters to help me find a position. The agreement with Recuiter A requried me to pay a fee if their referral led to my being hired and they were instrumental in all the communication with the community. Recuiter B required me to pay a fee if a referral they made led to my being hired. Recruiter A got me the job and did all the communication. I paid them. Recruiter B now said I owe them since they sent my resume to the same community a week after Recruiter A, even though Recruiter B acknowledges they did nothing other than a referral. What do I do. Recruiter B says they will take me to court.

Were you hired as a property manager for an association?

Yes I was hired by the community.

What does this have to do with HOAs?

What kind of paperwork did you sign with each? You certainly could be legally liable to pay both.

I'm not sure I would have contracted with two search firms to secure a position, for exactly the reason you're here.

RobertG, I, too, was trying to find the connection here. This isn't a legal help forum.
