I volunteer as the HOA Secretary and I'm a resident, but not on the deed. Can I be on the Board of Directors still? I have been there serving, voting, and living with the president for over 2 years? We are a great team and get alot done.

It depends.

Does your governing documents allow for board members who are NOT residents of the community?

Ours does, but there are probably as many that don't allow it as there are that do allow it.

The only way to know for sure is to read your by-laws and/or CC&Rs.

By that "not residents" I mean that our governing documents allow for board members who are not on the deed. They not only don't have to be official members of the association, they don't even have to be living in the community.

FYI. . .

This is a duplicate thread. The other one is titled "HOA". There have been quite a number of responses to that one.
