Our HOA has been in existence for 15 years or so and does not have insurance for its officers or common areas. The new Board believes this is essential. But we are having difficulty finding an insurance agent who writes HOA policies. Does anyone have any recommedations?

In North Carolina State Farm and Nationwide both write. I don't know if they do the same in Florida.

try ihginsurance.com I had been doing research for my association in Illinois, and they broker in Florida as well. I believe they list CNA as one of their underwriters. They have online quotes.

You can also try caionline.com for advertising/listings under resources. Our association insurance is underwritten by Cincinnati Insurance. It's a hunt for sure! Good luck!

Thanks for your help. We did end up getting a general liability policy with Southern Owners Ins. & another policy for board liability through CNA. This stuff sure isn't cheap!

Not cheap, but definitely worth it especially in case of lawsuit. Our officers policy covers $2,000,000 in attorney fees and judgements each.

Diane- I'm a bit late in responding since you have already acquired insurance coverage but when renewal time comes around you might want to query Auto-Owners Insurance out of Lansing, MI. They wrote our coverage in FL.

Just looked them up and the rep that handles them locally had, and I stress "had" my homeowners policy last year. I did not renew with them because their laid back ways drove me crazy. I guess I will just need to suck it up and call them anyway. Thanks for the info.
