A statement that came out at our Master Gardener meeting and it sort of fits here--sort of.

DEFINITION OF A SUBDIVISION.....A PLACE WHERE THEY TEAR DOWN ALL OF THE TREES AND THEN NAME THE STREETS AFTER THEM.

Here on our Island they named most of the street afters fish. Want to guess how many of these fihes can be caught from this island..........maybe five. Then they got the wonderful idea that since a popular professional golfer lives 80 miles away, and he designed one of the courses they should name a community playground after him. But I'm an old crab and everyone seems to think that is a swell idea.

I offer no defense or no explanation for either one. It matters not to me that my name is not on the Park but I know several people who have earned the right to have their name on the park. How can we fail to recognize true value and replace it with popularity makes me a bigger old crab.

Sorry Robert,
Crabs are crustations and therefore you cannot be named after a fish street in your area.

In some areas you can have your street named after yourself. We were alerted to this when we lived in Baton Rouge. Check it out, Robert; you may be able to name your street Robert or Robertson Lane!

Robertson Lane will never replace Penny Lane, and yes I know where Penny Lane is.

But for the two of you: I might be crusty but I cannot be a crustation..........because there is no such crab.

Hahahaha...... Crabs are crustaceans.

But you have made my day, not often to I get the chance to correct my betters.

I liked the Penny Lane character in ALMOST FAMOUS (played to the hilt by Kate Hudson), and I've also seen the Penny Lane in Liverpool made famous by a local band while on a really cheezy Beatles tour, so there you have it.
