I know the answer to this one, I am asking if anyone else has had odd request like this one?

Our homeowner essentially had a squater on her property. Full access with a remote to the garage, front security gate, unit itself. The squater was an undocumented roomate who essentially stayed for 2 - 3 months with no rent. The homeonwer finally the bum out..... however.... did not obtain her keys, front security door keys or garage remote.

Now she is asking for the board to replace her door locks, and alert the homeowners that we need to change our front door keys and garage remote code...... odd as this sounds It amazes me that someone would hold the HOA responsible for her door locks?? BTW... the HO served on the board for 2 years...

DUH!!! How dumb was she. Frances. You already know the answer. I hope this dummy has some funds stashed someplace because she would be buying an aweful lot of keys and locks if I gave her the answer. HOA responsibility, it is not. If she won't pay up, charge her a special assessment.

Francesca,

Knowing you live in a condo assn, IMO, it would depend upon who owns the door, right? If it's the assn then the BOD should consider the safety factor when making their decision.

I appreciate your response.. no problem. I do know the answer, but it's so hard not to roll your eyes about these kind of request. I am sure other HOA"s get them all the time....

Francesca,

Of course it is up to the owner to get their locks changed. However gaining access to the front security gate should be made asap.
