Our Board is looking at having ou r20+ year old cc&rs and docs reviewed. As you can imagine some things are out dated.

What I would like to know is how often has other hoa's done this? Our rules have ammendments, but honestly they ofte contradict some of the other docs.. it's an issue as you can see. We can't enforce many items becuase of the confusion.

We have a split board on this as I have always said we do. 50% want to update a few things including parking garage issues pool rules, board member requirements ( miss 3 mtgs gone, past 90 days on dues gone, etc)

Have other hoa's run into a ongoing problem that has been incomporated into the governing docs??

Francesca,

It appears the first thing that needs to be done is to get another person on the board to avoid split decisions. Do your docs call for a five member board?

You can establish a committee with several Members and a FEW board members to come up with some recommendations to the Board or present to the members at a specially called meeting. Then they can be presented for vote to the Members or Board - whichever entity approves changes.

You will have to start with the CCRs, first, of course.
