I just noticed a reply from DONNA!!! YAHOO! ARE YOU RELLY BACK DONNA?

There have been SO MANY situations that have just not been able to be solved since you went and BOUGHT Barbados!

Please tell us all about it! We missed you. When can we all come down and "shack" at all the property you bought there???

We had a "lottery" while you were gone....to pick "weeks" to come down and stay with you. We'll let you know who will be staying with you every week.

I can go back and look this up but I signed up first for the first available ocean front over 600 sq. ft. with hot and cold running maid service. Of course Donna would not dream of charging US!

Also, note that IE spell check Hoatalk mentioned is easy to down load and works. Notice spelling all correct this post, a first for me.

Well everyone,
Don't pack your bags for a warm breezy vacation, at least down in Barbados.

As I said on the Democracy thread started by Mary, going anyplace in the world and then coming back to the U.S, makes us realize how great America is.Poverty is how much of the rest of the world live in daily. I would like every American who thinks that they have it tough, go live in any other country.

I always thought that Austria or Switzerland would be so peaceful and safe to live. TAXES are 5 to 10 times more for those countries than ours are here in America. AND WE BITCH!!!!! What will it take to wake us up, to realize that we are living in a great place and it might or should cost us to live our great lives here.

Donna,

Agreed.

We, unfortunately, based on a recommendation from a world-traveling buddy of Mrs. K, picked St. Maarten (aka St. Martin) for our wedding trip (aka honeymoon). 5 Star hotel, to be sure. The first thing I noticed might be amiss were the Security guys patroling the grounds armed with automatic rifles. The second was a note from the hotel that we ought not to leave the place after dark on foot. The third was after hopping into our rental car to go out for dinner, we had to drive 5 minutes through the absolutely worst scene I'd ever witnessed: blocks and blocks of tin-roofed shacks, garbage-filled streets and the sound of what I suspect was random gunfire.

Yup, 'twas good to return to Des Etas Unis.

Yes, there are thousands and thousands who have paid the ultimate price for US to live here.

It all sounds so sad....the way others live. Donna, your post speaks volumes. I was hoping to read what a 'wonderful' time you had away from here. It sure sounds like you couldn't wait to get home.

Thanks for giving all of us a wake-up call.

Welcome back, Donna!

Hope you are at least refreshed and had a great holiday!

(I lived in Korea for almost two years back in the late 1970s. The status of living then was much like many third-world countries today. No heat, no running water, or limited running water, people using the main sidewalk as urinals (it's a "cultural" thing, I was told). . .

When you pass one of their dumps, all you notice are spent chunks of coal and charcoal and very little else. One of my friends told me you can tell a lot about a country by the contents of it's garbage dumps. The people in Korea (at least in the countryside) used, reused and reused AGAIN, until there was literally NOTHING left to throw away.

Anyone visit one of our garbage dumps lately? Think that about says it all. . . .

Thanks Michelle and all of us who are on this same page.

What says it best is-- WE ARE A DISPOSABLE SOCIETY. And that is meant in every way. What kind of a wake-up call do we need?

In relation to our HOAs, I have seen where members scream at stuff not getting done asap-"because I pay for this" not getting extras because they want it asap and basically not helping the association function because they don't want to get dirty or take the time to pitch in or because they are afraid of some stinking lawyer will sue them for some jack a-- reason. We need to get back to taking care of each other and to take a stand for what is right.

Donna is back!
With a vengence! Tell you what Donna, next vacation come on down to the Lowcountry with Beautiful Places and Smiling faces. When you leave here you will be so laid back you won't be able to sit up in a chair, just keep slipping to the ground.

The only way I am disposable is when I leave this body, such as it is. What we do need is some fire in our belly. We are going to be all right until some KoKo blows up the world. Till then, save all that steam for the next one posting that ticks us off. You have already got me motivated, I am going first thing this am to court house and sniff the lawyers to find a stinky one. Is that how you tell the good from the bad and if you find one stinky, it that a good thing or a bad thing.

Robert said "with hot and cold running maid service"

I'm not sure I understand....when does the maid run hot, and when does she run cold?
