A board member wants a copy of the Board Mtg. which they did not attend. I can't find any place that says one way or another.

Fay,
Arizona has a "right to inspection of records" law for HOAs. Yes you may request a copy from your association.

Fay,

You may want to check out the AZ state statutes for HOAs. Here is the url for the AZ legislature:

www.azleg.state.az.us -- click on "statutes" (revised statutes) then on Title 33.

If you are in a condo assn, go to Chapter 9. ARS 33-1258 is the statute pertaining to assn records.

If you in a planned community, go to Chapter 16. ARS 33-1805 is the statute pertaining to assn records.

While you're at it you may want to check out the other state statutes in Chapter 9 or 16, whichever is applicable to your assn, that apply to HOAs. Also, as a nonprofit corp the board must also comply with the nonprofit corp statutes. They are contained in Title 10, Chapter 24 through 40.

Happy reading!

Fay,

You may be able to receive a copy of the minutes, but you might be charged a reasonable fee to offset the copy costs.

Cancel that. A board member should be able to get a copy of the board meeting minutes at no cost. A homeowner might be charged for a copy.

I find the question itself sort of strange. Are you saying in AZ a board member has to go through "proper channels" to get a copy of Minutes ??? Why check the AZ statutes ??? A homeowners perhaps but not a board member.

Anna,

Actually, it was Wisc., Memphis, Palm City Fl, and now Chattanooga. I owned property in Lake Havasu , Arizona for 20 years and finally decided against living there. One thing that I know for sure. HOAs are all alike, with the same problems everywhere.
