A friend of mine who lives in Greenacres Fl. is President of their HOA , and a BIG toubler maker who has caused the whole BOD to resign, has been reading this web site, and found him asking questions, getting advice with other HOA's. He has been doing this for years and it is all been very helpful. Now the HOA is being taken over by the state and they are appointing someone to come in. Not good..so, think about what you are asking here. To bad its a beautiful web site. This "person" should be BANNED from it......

I see nothing wrong with GETTING advice. It's what one DOES with it that matters.

Sandy,

First of all, what a sad day in the history of your HOA that you had to resort to a State Recievership. The cost will make every member wonder why they did not do something to prevent this. I am sorry to hear that was the course that you needed to take.

Secondly, there is a disclaimer on the site which says that we offer "OPINIONS" Anyone who visits the site or posts here are looking to see how other situations are handled. The President of your HOA, no matter what kind of troublemaker he MIGHT be, has created that all by himeself. We who post, cannot be blamed for any lack of ownership in how your members have run your association. Recievership should be the last resort that you seek for running the association. Where was everybody when this was happening? One President does NOT make up a Board.

Who be careful? Us?

I'm not worried about internet trolls who hide behind the scenes.

In fact, I have no doubt he already read my opinion of him in the other post.

He's clearly an unstable person with control issues.

If he were legitimately concerned about his community he would have run for the board years ago and put in the sweat equity that would benefit the community as a whole.

Instead he creeps around and sneaks around and lobs harrassing "gotchya" campaigns. . . to what end?

Apparently it gives him a sense of power and relevance. Unfortunately, it's all smoke and mirrors. Everyone sees that sort of person for the selfish, self-serving individual they really are.

Donna, I think you may have misread Sandy.

The president is not the troublemaker. There is apparently a homeowner who has been on a long-term campaign to micro-manage the board over a period of years, second-guessing, criticizing decisions, engaging in letter-writing campaigns that serve only one purpose, to disrupt the board and diffuse them from engaging in their duties or to create chaos.

Apparently the board dwindled away as this PITA homeowner made it difficult for them to do their job, yet he offered no constructive contributions himself.

He apparently doesn't attend many of the meetings himself, but has others there who "report" back to him, then makes repeated and frivolous demands for various information, placing deadlines on the responses, questioning each and every decision or item that was discussed at the meeting, etc etc, all the while not showing up in person himself to hear things firsthand or discuss things as normal people do. We've all seen this type of resident before.

The PRESIDENT apparently has come to this site from time to time asking questions and using us as a sounding board and getting advice, etc. This PITA homeowner apparently reads the board, too, sort of "spying" on the president regarding the questions he's asking, etc.

I'm gathering this from the other posts Sandy has made on here, so if I'm wandering off-base, Sandy, please let me know.

That was information from a post by Sandy on another thread? Sorry, at my age, I forgot what I read yesterday sometimes. Thanks Michelle

Sandy wrote---" A friend of mine who lives in Greenacres Fl. is President of their HOA , and a BIG toubler maker who has caused the whole BOD to resign, has been reading this web site, " I it was just a tad vague--sorry Sandy

This situation doesn't happen overnight and is not caused by ONE person. The Board should have called in a consultant or legal advice WAY before this went into legal jurisdiction.

Too bad.

HOATalk, I think the warning from the OP is that someone is READING the posts here, not actually making contributions, and taking the information and using it against the president of the board who WAS posting here, but probably won't be any longer.

Again, that is how I'm following the breadcrumbs in this post (and mushing with other ones).

Here's one of her previous posts referring to the above:

RobertR1, the reason behind all of this "mess" is we have ONE person who has been and still is watching EVERY move and thing we do under a scope. Ouoting FL, statues, etc.. he sends his neighbor to record all meetings, I have no problem with that. I have to under Fl statue. Then goes home and desects the meeting 2-3 days later we are getting letters, about why or how we should do things. I and 3 others are not getting paid like a CEO!! We rae not lawyers , accounts, etc. neither is HE. But he is a shutin and all he does is look up things. He even sets deadlines for us to give him info he wants!
Sorry we recieve no pay for this and do as best the BOD can. He has now hired a lawyer, wants 600.00 enough. He can have the place, or pay us and we have to answer to him.

Bu the way he reads this site and has quoted that BOD "s get information so be all careful on what is said here...SANDYC1

Doesn't every HOA have at least one member who is passive-aggressive? That is
1/2 the fun of being on the board.

Hehe, with the just plain ole aggressive ones being the OTHER half of the fun!

(I still have vivid memories of the resident who hurled a rake at me like a spear one day. This is why our board members must now use the buddy system when calling on "neighbors.")

Robert,
The State of Florida has what is called a "Receivership" which appoints a team to manage the affairs of a HOA in event of a failure of the Board and members to govern the association. A MEMBER OR MEMBERS OF THE ASSOCIATION MUST PETITION THE STATE. The court systems appoints a manager, lawyer, accountant and or any person or persons needed to run the affairs of the association. Guess who pays all of the salaries??? THE MEMBERS OF THE ASSOCIATION DO.!! It should be a last resort thing to do.
