i live in an hoa in florida, and my question is how long are board members allowed to stay in office.

That should be explained in your bylaws. Look in the section called "Terms of Office" for officers and/or Board Members,, or some other description explaining terms.

There are new laws in 2008 concerning term limits for Board members. Are you an HOA which is covered under Statutes 720?
