How can the board as a whole focus on what is at hand. Many issues have followed the bulk of this team since last year.

We all agreed to focus on what we need to do in order to keep business moving along.

Today was the day to recieve a mean spirited email with a personal attack ( although minor in wording the meaning was well intent) to all the board and MC as well. I advised everyone not to respond, he is looking for a fight...

How can one group work together when one member makes comments and passive agressive actions clearly looking for a conflict? Our group is asking me to post for clear advice on this.. thank you so much.

Irene, with all due respect, in order to give any sort of advice, we would need more information on what was said.

I could say to you and to your fellow board members to remember that "sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me."

However, if what he is saying is mean-spirited, yet true, then there might be something that would need to be addressed.

If he is threatening people, forward a copy to your attorney for "future reference."

If he's just spouting vacuous rhetoric, then send him the following note:

"Dear XXXXX:

Thank you for your recent correspondence. Rest assured we are giving your concerns the attention they deserve.

Please let us know if there is anything else we can do for you in the future.

Best Regards,

XXXXXX Board of Directors"

Then file the letter he sent in a separate file you are all going to be keeping on him to preserve his paper trail and move on to business at hand.

Specifically his email stated.

In regards to the request for *** to be on our agenda for June 2008. Nicole has brought this up at many meetings, emails and even tried to cause turmoil by telling her neighbors that *** hasn't been addressed. We as a board ( meaning old board ) have agreed that the issue of **** will be addressed at next years budget when the board decided to paint the building

Mind you the *** is in regards to torn window coverings that are on our building. The attempt to disregard Nicole's concerns and also toss doubt on her credibility is clear as day here. This is a very kind email.... the past ones that I have seen CC'd have asked for resignations, and called a few names ect.

The reply shall be:

"Thank you for your communication regarding an agenda item for June 2008. At this time we have a full agenda and will keep the request on file for discussion at a later date.

Best regards and hope you are well,

XXXX Board of Directors"

There is no need to get into a tit-for-tat or get one's back up over such comments.

Our acting president will have to work on redirecting the thoughts back to the original material at hand.

The board member who enjoys making remarks will not have an audience as far as I know. It is a shame that some adult professionals conduct themselves like this... especially in an email with a signature.

Voted in a new board three weeks ago, with me being the President.....person who left this post swore up and down that he wanted to leave the post, but now that he has been replaced he cannot let go.

Went down to his house yesterday on a courtesy visit to drop off some of his files and he hammered me about some of the stuff we are doing as a new Board, questioning our decision making. Really aggrevating, but you have to move on. We have goals that we would like to get accomplished and we (and he) have to realize that we're the ones that are running this organization now and as long as we keep the HOAs best interest we will do alright.

It is tough. Individuals do not always accept that they only own a percentage of the property. Our guy who is flinging bad emails is now being emailed by the managment company telling him that his emails are counter productive, hurtful and do not build a sense of a team!
