Our complex has had issue with neighborhood kids jumping our fence and using our pool areas. Last year was really bad and numerous accounts of trespassing were noted including the same people over and over.

My neighbor who is a single woman has a brother who from time to time visits here. He is a middle aged teenager.. dresses in gangsta street bling bling wear. A few days last summer there was a young man who looked like this kind in our pool. He even brought a dog in the area which is a no no. He told me he was #228's brother. I thought ok.. must be. A letter of correction was sent. The young lady reported her brother moved out of state 6 months prior and the young man with the street bling bling complete with a 3K cubz Z earring was not her guest.... guess what he showed back up.. with a posse in tow and asked someone ( me ) to open the gate. I asked him where his sister was and he said she was sleeping. I said so are you tired from your flight? He aske WHAT? When I stated what Ms 228 shared he took off.. with posse in tow. Never came back..

However.. we had at least 10 incidents of trespassers... mostly kids some adults.

Our board majority did not feel this was an issue until one of the kids threw a skateboard at a resident. Thanks to this.. we now have CCTV's and that does include the pool area. SIgns indicate there is filming 24/7. Gone are the new acts of graffiti, vandalism and trespassing.

A simple simple camera and dvr with installation could run as low as $2500 and it would be well spent.

Glad that worked out for you. About two years ago, our board kicked around the idea of getting a camera after our pop machine was broken into (twice - the second time, thieves somehow MADE OFF with the entire unit - luckily it had been emptied the day before, so they didn't get much money)

However, we found the price too expensive, not just the equipment, but a service to monitor said equipment (who does yours and how much does that cost). We haven't had people throwing skateboards at each other (not yet, anyway), but I'm sure there are times where trespassers might jump in, especially if Indiana has another hot dry summer like last year.

If you search the Internet, including eBay, you can probably find a dummy, battery-powered camera that even blinks a red LED and moves back and forth for $50-60. All it provides is the impression of monitoring, though is a cheap way to help discourage nare-do-wells.
