2 HOAs two much. Can we leagaly get out from under 1?

I live on Oahu in Hawaii and my small neighborhood of about 114 house have 2 HOAs. Our main large one that covers 3 towns and then our small one that covers just our neighborhood. All the homeowners want to get rid of 1...the larger one, and just stay under our smaller HOA.
Does anyone out ther have any ideas or has ever gotten out from under an HOA before?

Sounds like there's a master assn for everyone plus the additional on for each individual neighborhood. Look through the gov. docs. for the master assn and see if there's a termination clause. Don't be surprised to learn that you're stuck with both!
