Any one know where I can look up to see if our HOA is regestered for 55+? I live in Florida. I once found the site by mistake but can't remember...Thanks

Laverne,
Shouldn't that information be stated in your Declaration or CCRs? That document is supposed to be recorded, probably with the local authorities; the same place where deeds are recorded. I would guess that they should be able to tell you if you are considered a 55+ community and if the status is current.

It is the Florida Commission on Human Relations.

LaverneB: Just check with your local municipal office to learn the particulars of registering as a 55+ community, and whether the developer did so. Even if you find the state regulations, you still have to abide by the local office regulations, if any.

Laverne,

Go to the website for the FL Commission on Human Relations - www.fchr.state.fl.us

Click on "directory of 55+ housing communities"

Also, I believe HUD requires annual reporting to ensure your community is meeting the standards imposed.
