Every once in awhile those violation notices go out to people who don't follow the rules

How helpful is this if pictures can be taken and sent along with the letter? Is it common practice?

Pictures are priceless. We keep them in file with the First Notice or Second Notice, but if it goes to a hearing, we bring them to this meeting, since people develope a case of what I call descretionary memory.

NoelleC - Pictures tell a thousand words, right? The pictures should have a digital time and date stamp on them, a feature that can be achieved in a camera's settings. Additionally, if I were the one taking the picture I'd immediately download it to a computer and email it to myself or the responsible person who keeps association records. A further way of proving, if necessary, that the picture was taken on the day it was captured.

Noelle,
Document, Document, document!! Pictures with dates and times are the ultimate document backup.

Gerald: Excellent suggestion re: downloading and emailing to self.

I just got back from snapping a few (we rarely have to do this, but there are a couple of residents testing the "envelope" right now, so the president requested I run by with a camera to snap some pics).

I don't know how to "turn on" the digital time/date stamp on my camera, or even if there IS one!!

So this suggestion is very timely. Thank you.

It is written into our management agreements and is common practice for us.

We are in the middle of a huge battle with our association over parking in our small association. I have and continue to take pictures. Long story made short it is over commercial parking. My prize picture is of our president giving me the bird as he drives his dump truck and tractor from his home out of the complex. This is the president that is sending us over $600.00 in fines for parking a mid-size truck in our driveway. His reasoning is that we park in our driveway everyday and he only does it once in a while. People can deny almost anything but when there is proof as in pictures many people can also be shown as liars too.
