Does anyone know how to go about looking up H.O.A.(s)? I know there are services that will provide you a listing at a fee but how does the average joe go about trying to look them up themselves? Tries talking to the government at a state level and all that got me was 3 hours of naptime hold music with everyone pawning me over to someone else. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Steve,

Very good question! Here in AZ we have a bill before the legislature that would require all HOAs in the state to register with the Sec. of State. Several years ago the requirement was to record a notice with the Co. recorder stating the name of the assn, names of the directors and prop mgmt co, if. However, the recorder did not keep a list compiled and it was still difficult to get info. The bill requires the Sec. of State to maintain the list on the official website. The bill has cleared the House and been sent to the Senate but I'm sure it will be heard. It's a shame, because it's a real good idea. There's probably no place to go for this info in FL!
