two of the management companies interviewed own homes in our hoa.
One lives here. Is that a problem?

Yeah, that's a problem! It may or may not be illegal, but it is awfully hard to see how they can avoid a clear conflict of interest in many situations. I would avoid it like the plague. Good luck.

Raymond has my vote on this one too. Somewhere in there will arise a conflict. If you have other options for a choice of a P.M. I would avoid any member of the association to also be an employee of the same association.

I interviewed an owner in our HOA for a management contract - and he lives here too. He serves on NO committees or the BOD and since the management company acts as an agent only and receives direction and instruction from the BOD, we felt okay with the situation. I consulted two attorneys as well and they both said they wouldn't worry much if the manager was not a BOD and financials were secure and reviewed.
