I wasn't sure how my HOA would respond when I submitted a request for an emotional support animal. The community had clear pet restrictions, and I didn't want to create an issue by assuming those rules automatically settled the matter.

Before contacting the HOA, I had completed an evaluation through My ESA Therapist and had my ESA letter ready. I submitted the documentation through the process the HOA provided and explained that I was requesting an accommodation for my ESA.

There were a few questions from the management team, mainly about the documentation and how the request should be handled. I answered everything and kept copies of the paperwork and correspondence.

The experience taught me that HOA situations can be much easier when you don't rely on assumptions. Having proper ESA documentation and communicating with the HOA in a clear, respectful way made a noticeable difference.
