We live in an HOA trailer park here in FL.We have a home here that looks like nothing but what people used to call Trailer Trash, HOA calls it ART.We always thought HOA made everyone keep up their home and property so it kept everyones value up i guess we was wrong.

I guess the first question is does your HOA have the authority to regulate the appearance of the homes.

Norman,

It is understood from you several threads on the topic that you consider the yard/patio items as clutter.
From your earlier posts, it appears that your HOA did attempt to address the issue but when the individual said it was art and artistic expression, your HOA (for unknown reasons) chose not to pursue the issue.

You were told that some of your options were to:

a) Run for the Board and be part of the decision process to enforce the issue.
b) Discuss with an attorney your options for enforcing the covenants/bylaws on the individual yourself (as owners, in addition to the Association, have the authority to enforce).
c) Live with it
d) Consider moving so you don't have to deal with it.

Have you looked into any of those options?

FYI, previous threads on the topic:

Subject: HOA By Laws started in April 2025

Subject: Property with trash allowed started in March 2025

Subject: Property with trash allowed started in December 2024

Depending on the subject and people's responses, it can be easy to do (especially when people bring up the same issue over and over again). That's not a bad thing, but sometimes they don't add anything new to the discussion and that's when you remember this has come up before (the more recent the better).

Of you can do a search and look at the old conversations, where you might find the same people with the same question. Sometimes, the question is rephrased to see if they'll get a different response (especially the one they're really looking for.)

Tim, how do you remember the threads?

I remember the topic.
I then look the threads up by:

1) Click on "My Profile"
2) Click on "View Posts by User"
3) Replace my username with a posters username in the search box.
4) Click on Search

This will show you the last 500 posts (not threads) of a poster.

people just come to vent, they don't want to actually solve a problem. I got one person in our HOA who has complained about her neighbors yard for 3 years. i will give her creidti for volunteering for a violations committe, but she said she would only do it if 2 others did as well.

I finally told her she could sue them in court if she wanted or build a fence or whatever, but the hoa hasn't had the votes to force the neighbor to change the look of their yard.
