Hello all,

I have a situation here that may not be uncommon in other HOA Boards. We have a 4 man board, and 2 of the board members just can not get along. One is strict by the rules and in pretty much right on with trying to keep the HOA from going against cc&r's ect. The other one thinks he knows it all and clearly doesn't. He is often needing to be corrected and makes assumptions about projects. Clearly a clash of egos.

It is hurting out HOA in a bad way. Most recently the man of the board is writing very cruel, mean things about this other person and forwarding it to all of us. I asked him to stop and keep it professional and he said he will not keep it professional as long and so and so won't apologize for a past argument.

Clearly he has an agenda, and I am tired of opening emails that really sound like they are a rant. I suggested to the person who he is offending to threaten a lawsuit for libel or slander if it continues. Legal action may be the only thing to shut this ego maniac up.

ANy other suggestions on how to keep the board focused and on track?

( PS Below is an excerpt of a small portion of a rant.. which is being forwarded to all of us and the President supports this.. )

I would suggest you be part of the solution instead of part of the problem. I undertook responsibly of this project and we have received nothing but cooperation, support and praise from the homeowners with the exception of one who was conspicuously absent from an earlier commitment to be available (any guesses who?).
Maybe your just not up to the task of being a team player.
Clearly the benefits of the FiOS installation far out weigh the challenges we have undertaken and overcome.
All your other comments I will disregard as they are purely petty and obstructionist in nature.
I hope and look forward to a positive change in your attitude for the betterment of our homeowners and the HOA Board.

Despite the benefits of FioS installation,
Where were the official notices from Paragon. XXXX sent out an email on 2/5/08, urging XXXX to notify Paragon to coordinate. That did not happen. Instead we got 6 days notice to be home or give out our last remaining keys to Paragon. No time frame was even listed on the Notices. I have been house sitting for 10 days. Working yesterday and today.
I, and another homeowner, still do not have our spare keys back from the Hydrojetting. And why should I allow two Board members into my home without a liability statement? Same Board members who choose to berate me online for doing my job as a Board member? I do not think so.
When I did arrive home tonight at exactly 9:11 p.m. the workmen form the subcontractors were parked in my only parking space, unit #109's parking space as well. Earlier neighbors stated they were parked in unit #107's space.
Question: Which Board member thought it was okay to let contractors use personal parking spaces?
Which Board member allowed the workers to tape over door locks leaving our premises unsecured?
It is 10:14 p.m. and they are still here, without a work permit, in violation of City codes.
This work must be done appropriately following all City codes and giving all homeowners and tenants a satisfactory method to insure our animals will not get loose, our belongings are safe, and that Paragon will actually return keys.

This kind of bickering is counter-productive and energy=zapping.

Put a "BLOCK" on all emails from these two - but first email the Pres. and the members and tell them why.

Your President needs to act more presidential and put a stop to all this.

I have asked her and she supports the man who is doing the slandering. What I have done is made it a priority to have new blood on the board. Next month is our annual meeting and election and I have made posters, flyers and even a letter as a homeowner pointing out how long it takes our current group to get involved and make decisions.

6 months to get a bike rack approved to hang in our gargage. All well documented. 8 months for cctv to be installed all documented. I am using this as ammunition to get the community involved.

Board "dynamics" are very important.

When Board members don't "jell" there is always problems

Good luck.

I'm confused why you have a four person board. It should always be an odd number. From what you've said, it sounds like your president and the "ranter" are "a pair", which leaves one of the other two of you to join in with them or form another pair, creating a stalemate. Which is actually a "no" vote on anything. No wonder it took you 6 months to approve a bike rack. UH....You need approval to hang a bike rake inside a garage?
