We have one lamp out in our neighborhood. It was electrically powered, but power is cut somewhere.

We've had two electricians and an underground locating company fail to determine where the fault is. Next option is digging.

We could get a new line run, but it would also involve breaking concrete and digging, etc.

We are considering solar. Has anyone tried this with success? Does anyone know of a good one that will fit 4" posts?

There don't seem to be many options, which makes me think they don't work very well.

Thanks in advance!

We have only one street light that was added after the declarant handed over our HOA. The light gives off enough light to
make the two homeowners happy. I believe the battery has been replaced 5 times in 13 years.

As for locating the wire run, did the original electrician not run it in conduit? Find a different locator service
than can send a tone down the wire run,

I knew of one HOA that installed solar powered street lights.
They were happy with them but the initial cost was a little pricey.
That was several years ago and the cost may have decreased over time.

There is the added expense of replacing the batteries (as LetA pointed out). Be sure to plan for that in the reserves.

A new electric line can be run under existing concrete without cutting or breaking. Our HOA ran both 110V electric and a water line under a dedicated street to irrigate beds at an entrance.

i BOUGHT SOME DIRECTLY FROM CHINA. They are about double the price now due to tarriffs, around $300 now, but work fine as long as you have good sun exposure.
