As an owner, you have a right to review Association records. This would include a copy of signed contracts.
Reviewing is not having a copy, but you can make a copy (cell phone, etc.).

You didn't provide what State you are in.
Therefore, we can not provide you with any applicable statutes that support such a request.

If your Association is incorporated, most are but check to be sure, then it is likely that your State non-profit or not for profit statute applies.
Regardless of incorporation, your States HOA or condominium statute (which ever is applicable) may address your right to review records.
Your governing documents, typically the Bylaws or the Articles of Incorporation, may also address your right to review records.

As a trustee you have a lawful fiduciary duty to operate with the best understanding that you can of contracts between the HOA and all its vendors and employees.

You cannot possibly comply with this fiduciary duty if you cannot see the contract.

Regarding your possessing a copy of the contract: In my specific experience, the board can forbid you from owning a copy. Why? Because such contracts often have what is called "proprietary" information in them. In some states, contractors have a right to keep such proprietary information from being circulated.

The only way the board might lawfully be able to prohibit your examination of the contract is if you did something the other trustees deemed harmful to the corporation.

You would have to describe exactly what is going on here. Is the board refusing to let you examine the contract? If so, what is its explanation?

Not in planned HOA community law in Ohio. An owner is only entitled to:

1) Correct and complete books and records of account that specify the receipts and expenditures relating to the common elements and other common receipts and expenses;

(2) Records showing the collection of the common expenses from the owners;

(3) Minutes of the meetings of the association and the board of directors;

(4) Records of the names and addresses of the owners.
