I have lived here for 4 1/2 years. I have always had a termite problem which has always been covered 100%. The coverage has been difficult to obtain as they keep changing companies. The problem got much worse & the finally they got a new company, it took several weeks to get service. A week after the service I was sent a bill expecting me to pay 50%. I had never been told they had made this change until after the service. Am I obligated to pay it???

This is a condominium, correct?

And you mean that in the past, the condo association has always paid for addressing termites in and around your unit, correct?

Now the association is billing you for one-half the cost of servicing your unit, correct?

Condominium governing documents typically have a covenant that states that any maintenance serving less than all units may be billed to solely those units that the maintenance benefits. You should read your condo association's Declaration carefully and look for such wording.

If this does not make sense, ask questions here to clarify, or pay an attorney (who may or may not rip you off).

If this is a condo, the areas being treated are common areas and likely the responsibility of the HOA.
