Just wondering how other COA's are handling the new Florida Statute law that took place on July 1st that states any video conferences must be recorded and made available online for up to a year.

If you have virtual meetings regularly, the condo should probably use Zoom or a similar software to make it easy to record and upload the recordings.

The law does not say the meetings must be recorded. The law says the meetings must be available by zoom. In fact, if you record the meetings they become official records. Most attorneys are suggesting that you not record the meetings.

I apologize - I was wrong with my wording about FS 718 above. The statute says if you do a zoom meeting you must record the meeting and keep as official record for one year, and the recording must be available on the website. However, the law does NOT require that you have zoom meetings. If you are concerned about keeping the recordings, then just don't use zoom. No matter what, you must have a physical location for every meeting. You can't just do meetings by zoom.

That rule does not apply to HOAs (FS 720). Arguably, a recording of a zoom meeting is an official record. For HOAs, it's better not to record.

I highly doubt the legislature passed a law that required a specific service named Zoom. The fact the meetings are archived online means they had to be recorded. The legislation says they are an official record, how long they are an official record and a format to be viewed.
