So we had our Annual Meeting via ZOOM on the 17th. Maybe 20 people showed up. I was not rude, but couldn't help but point out that the Board had (for instance) had not included a reserve fund contribution in the budget. And in fact had not even looked at the reserve study in composing the budget. And that they've been dragging their feet for over a year on something important.

On the 19th I saw I had received a violation from the PMC.

Are they attempting to send me a message?

Perhaps. Perhaps not.

Was the violation valid?

It's something of a matter of opinion. My neighborhood has gone through hell, weather-wise, and most of the yards are in some disarray. Let me put it this way: If I walked down my street and took pictures of 5 different yards, and gave them to you and asked which was the worst? There's a 20% chance you'd pick mine.

They could be, as Tim noted. Maybe some of the 20 people there later said something to the effect of "you really should listen to Bill - he really did some good things for the neighborhood until Y'LL ran him off!"

On the other hand you said there are other houses with messy yards who also got a notice. You didn't say if you asked, but that's between them and the board anyway. It may be helpful to see what transpires next- if you keep getting dinged while theirs remain jacked up, you could have a point. Take so e time and date stamped photos just in case.

In the meantime, clean up the yard if it is messy or file an appeal. Personally, I'd clean the yard if it needs it. It'll look better, you'll feel better- and might get even more evidence of selective enforcement if they keep up with nitpicky stuff.

And keep saying what you mean and mean what you say. You're still a homeowner and association member and have every right to do so. Like I say on this website, anyone can take some, none or all of what's said.
