Does a reserve study specialist have to be an actuary?

I beehive a "reserve study specialist" is a Community Association Inst. (CAI ) designation. They do not need to be a professional actually, but do use a lot of math

Say, Terri, since your reserve study only will include your road(s) and an unkempt green area--2 components-- IMO you don't need to hire a reserves specialist or analyst since such designees are not required in California. I think you were part of a recent discussion about this re: California?

It might save your HOA some $$ to, instead, have a qualified road repair contractor do the remaining useful life estimates to maintain, repair and replace the road(s)

Kerry, those were my arguments at the meeting. President wants a reserve specialist. No decision was made.

No. We were discussing different kinds of funding and different ways to conduct the study. I favor threshold funding and they have been doing full funding.
