HOW you vote is supposed to be private so a ballot isn't the same as a proxy. A proxy designates someone to vote on your behalf, so even if you knew James served as a proxy for JoAnn, that won't tell you how he cast the vote, which isn't your business. In my community, you might appoint a proxy, but if you change your mind and show up at the meeting, the proxy will be cancelled and you can vote as usual, but that still doesn't entitle you to know how the vote was cast.

Usually, proxies are issued to someone who's a bonafide member of the associiton and is eligible to vote (no delinquent assessments), so check your documents to see if it says anything about how proxies are used. Your state might have rules regarding use of proxies, so Lori or other Florida posters might jump in this conversation to tell you what they say. There are regulations involving condos and another set involving HOAs, so be sure you look at the right ones. If you don't want to wait, Google HOA law - note there have been several changes this year, so take note of them as well.

Florida statutes for HOAs and COAs say that these are part of the official records of the association:

Ballots, sign-in sheets, voting proxies, and all other papers and electronic records relating to voting by parcel owners, which must be maintained for at least 1 year after the date of the election, vote, or meeting.

So yes, you should be able to see the ballots and proxies. The ballots will not have any identifying information on them. If there was electronic voting, you should be able to see a print out of all the votes cast.

You may have to do an official records request in order to see the ballots.

I don't understand what you wrote, Pat; you want to see how Board members voted??? "... voting for bod members." In section Board member vote as owners and their ballots are secret like all ewers in your state.

How board members got at one board members might be in the minute of the board meeting. some HOAs, like mine list the names of how directors voted. Some do not. Not sure, but I don't think it's required in any state?
