Sent out notice with annual meeting notice people would be voting on getting $400 refund checks from the local city for an easement. We need 2/3rd to approve it to get the free money. Followed up with 2nd letter a few weeks latter. 3 weeks later we have 50% of the community voting. only 28 out of 40 landlords have voted. 50 homeowners have not voted yet. Big sign at front entrance. Spent about $800 on postage and signs so far.

thinking I might just let it fail to see what people do and then have a 2nd membership meeting to vote on it again online to show if you dont' vote, you dont' get the money and you screw your own neighbors.

You didn't say when your annual meeting is scheduled, but I suspect it's too early to say this is a failure. You're in North Carolina and I don't know if Helene and Milton came your way, but if so, people might be thinking of repairs or helping put friends and family who weren't as lucky because they live in Florida.

We're also getting into the holiday season, starting with Halloween, then Thanksgiving, Black Friday, Small business Saturday, Cyber Monday and Giving Tuesday. Then there's Hanukkah, Christmas, Kwanzaa, New years eve and day. Add to that open enrollment for next years health insurance and the election happening the week after next, and you can see people are busy.

So slow your roll and see what the 50 outstanding homeowners will do. The owner-landlords might jump in, but I give them as much of a side eye as you do, so if they don't jump at a shot of $400 for doing very little, oh well.

People are adults and have their own priorities- they don't have to think the same way about any issue as you do, and sometimes they do have to stumble before realizing they need to watch where they're going. I know you could use $400, but this isn't just your decision, and you may to accept that. It bites, but that's life.

Wendy

Is it $400 per owner? If so, my mistake.

hey John appreciate the apology. We always could use manners especially on this discussion board.

Wendy you never went into details on the easement. Maybe the easement details if we know about it we may have an opinion that it's not a good idea or a good idea. Would you objectively inform us on the proposal.

Thanks.
