elections for directors in Calif. HOAs?

Iv' ben hospitalized off & on for the last two months-think I"m OK now. BUT didn't use my laptop, and may hav missed Changs in CA legislation re: election of directors.

It's been the law that ballots must be sent to ownrs via USPS. Yet at a Canidates Night last week, the sup. of our PM seemed to say that there'd be "electronic voting." Have I missed something??? Terri & Riley seem to be on top of things in Calif.

KerryL1, I'm really sorry to hear this and hope you are on the mend.
AB2159 passed the legislature and was delivered to Gov on 9/11. Don't think he has signed it yet.

Ah, I now see it, Terri. Our annual election is 10/21, so even if the gov signed the bill yesterday, it's my undrstnding that Election Rules must be mined 90 days before an election to be valid. Yes?

If the Governor signs the bill, it won't take effect until January 1, 2025. And, yes, election rules can't be changed within 90 days of an election. It could be argued a board could not change the rules to accommodate electronic ballots until the bill is effective.

Gov signed AB2159 and it is chaptered. Becomes effective 1/1/2025. Electronic voting. Of course you have to amend your election rules 90+ days prior to using it.
