Yes, I've found yet another interesting article that I hope gets people thinking about how they approach decision-making and relationships as HOA board members and homeowners in general.....

My last post on selecting board presidents resulted in a good conversation, so we'll see if the same happens here. This website has had conversations on codes of ethics for board members and in general, it appears people feel they don't accomplish much, especially since it might be a challenge to prove someone did something unethical (which isn't necessarily illegal).

Perhaps the thing to do is for everyone to understand how they approach thorny situations and questions and how their moral compass (if they have one) guides them. This article may offer some insight on what to consider. Enjoy!

I like this one:
Consequentialist Ethics: Is It Good?
Actions aim at bringing about the greatest good for the greatest number of people.

People vote on how the hoa should be run and the directors have to make very little choices, they just enforce what people voted for.
Unfortunately, many old bylaws make it possibly impossible to even get quorum for a vote so I feel very few HOA's use this approach.

Jack, well said. Voter Apathy is often the demise of wonderdul communities. The violators spew buckets of misinformation. Food fights erupt & confusion creates more Apathy;
"CAN'T WE ALL JUST GET ALONG?" flies out the window. I am in the center of a storm as we speak. Great topic!
