I'm hoping for advice about how to covince the moderators to reply to my question about my post that was listed as "Last Post," but did not appear in the thread about the "kerfuffle" on 7/20, 10:29.

My post commented on the Community Assoc. Inst. (CAI) and some of the things it offers to non-members like me & my HOA. While lengthy,, about which there are no restrictions, it was polite, friendly &, I felt, useful to HOA leaders & members.

So: an anyone tell me how to get a reply to the two times I've requested a reason for it disappearance? I also requested a return of my banished post -- no reply.

Thanks for any help!!

hi Kerry,

You are right it disappeared. It might be due to rule number 3 for posting rules on liability.

3) No Mention of Community/Company/Person Names: In order to fairly enforce (2) and prevent liability, we do not allow the mentioning of any community name, company name or product. Please also do not post the full name of any person.

Kerry,

Many on here, including myself, have had posts deleted.
Don't let it get to you.

If you'll review the post I reference, Gregory, you'll see that it ALREADY contains references to CAI -- a national Inst. that advocates for HOAs. It is often mentioned here. So, I did not break Rule #3, nor any other rule. Nothing else in the post that I can think have could have possibly broken any rules.

I've been posting here regularly for many years and have never had a post deleted except for one several weeks ago, which did name an insurance company in Maine.. I took a chance on it because our HOA's ins.. agent told us owners at a board meeting that it was still insuring in Cali. I thought it would help other readers who're having insurance woes. But, despite my intent to help others, it was deleted and rightly so.

Are you saying, Tim that some of your posts were mysteriously deleted as was mine? No reason given??!! Are you saying that it's OK if the mods won't tell me what my crime was? And they won't return it to me so I can inspect it myself??

I think the mods are being extremely rude to not reply to my two queries.

I'm thinking that I may have to reconsider my relationship with HOAtalk due to what seems an arbitrary and unreasonable decision on their part.

I’ve not received an answer why clicking the box doesn’t work to receive a reply to the thread.

The ability to receive a reply seems to have disappeared around the same time that they started forcing us through enhanced security every time we refresh a page (or at least that happens to me). I suspect it's due to changes that they made to keep the spammers out. I logged in one morning recently, didn't get the "are you human" runaround, and found some spam at the top of the list of posts.

As Tim said, many of us have had posts deleted. As far as I could tell mine didn't violate any posting rules, so I chalked it up to website indigestion.

The moderators are not consistent when it comes to deleting posts. I have posted the names of an HOA before and my post was not deleted. I also posted the name of a business and my post was not deleted. However, I have had posts deleted because I assume the moderators thought my posts were too oppositional. That is really not in my nature but on rare occasions I have stepped over the line of proper decorum.

I have reported a particular poster to the moderators and got no response and nothing was done. She hasn't posted in a long time and she was a regular poster for years. I do wonder what happened to her. I also noticed that a regular poster has deleted her account.

In my case, my post WAS listed as "Last Post," so somehow a reader complained to the moderator. That I showed the benefits to NON- CAI members of CAI was emphasized, i.e, reference and education materials, often for free. You can read at their site, for instance, about their work to get HOAs removed from the legislation meant to deter money laundering.

Local CAIs holding valuable seminars and workshops that cost little for a first-time non-CAI attendee, an others that don't cost very much for non-members.

I wrote that neither I nor my HOA are or had ever been members of CAI.

they delete whatever they want there's no rules against posting pictures, but if you post them too much they will start deleting your threads.Reminds me of how some HOA boards act. the irony.
