Hello Folks,

If any of you were wondering my family escaped the major tornados that hit Nebraska yesterday. It came very close but it missed us. Some areas nearby are devastated. The weather can be so cruel sometimes. My heart goes out to those who lost their homes.

Glad to hear okay. We are very familiar with tornadoes here in Alabama. Matter of fact we recognize anniversary of some yesterday. Which I now live in the path of one that was an F5. This was in 2011.

So would recommend sticking up on water in a tub and hoses. Plus the solar lights are good for charging and using inside at night. May be good time to bring out the grill and grill what is in the freezer.

Best of wishes to your area. It will be heart sickening for a bit but people will work together. Which is great.

LayaS, I was wondering. Good to read you all are safe. Best to Nebraskans as they recover. -- ElleN

I watched coverage of the outbreak as it was happening. Some of those tornadoes were terrifying.

(Off topic: I know there is a lot of goofy stuff on the internet, but I have to give a shout out to "Ryan Hall, Y'all" and his coverage. At first you may think "who are these clowns?", but don't. He and his crew provide valuable live coverage, especially to areas that may not have storm warning systems in place. In addition, he runs a legit 501(c)(3) - people watching his live streams can donate money that will go to the victims of violent weather. By the end of Friday's coverage, they'd already been in contact with local aid providers and donors had raised over $100,000. I'm often skeptical of stuff on the internet, but these folks do good work.)

OMG! You are a fellow "Ryan Ya'll" Watcher too? I am obsessed with his channel whenever there is bad weather close by. Love to watch the "chasers" channel's as well if he's not broadcasting. Although think it was Brandon Copic that gave me a few scares. If I am not watching him then it's Reed Timmer in his "Dominator X".

I have seen some footage on TMZ with the Nebraska tornado. That thing was massive and scary. It will make you think about investing in a tornado shelter or finding the closest one. I am sure it may be a subject of many of HOA's boards in the coming months. Which we discussed a few times but follow through is lacking as we are individual homes. Our county offers a few public shelters not that close. Plus they don't take animals in most. There are a few High schools and churches that will open up. However, what is strange is often the city won't open up some of the school shelters even though they were built as shelters. They instead send the kids home from school early.

Hope for the best in the rebuilding. It's quite a shock to the system to say the least.
