Does anyone know of any platforms or software we can use to manage things like boats, basketball nets, lawnmowers, or anything belonging to the hoa? Is there a specific name for this type of software? I want to start looking info platforms that manage these things. Do other HOAs refer to these things as assets or inventory? if not these, then what?

My multi-story condo HOA with pool, gym, party rooms, managers' offices has a great deal of "personal property,"* which is the language used in our CC&Rs. I've been off the Board for a couple of years, but know there's no platform or software that our Management Company uses to "manage" them. sorry, can't help.

Many, many of these items are listed in our reserve study within an entry for larger reserve items. We have, for instance, a "North Lounge Refurbish" as a reserve component. The reserve study component shows it as 790 sf. It has 2 years remaining useful life and is estimated to cost $8,000 to refurbish. There is a list of the carpeting + furnishings, which include a Conference Table; 8 Conf Table chairs; 5 round tables, 16 chairs, 4 pieces of artwork, 63 folding chairs, painting.

Personal property for all our common area rooms are listed within that reserve component, e.g., South Lobby Refurbish: reception desk, sofas, chairs, accessory tables, artwork.

Very small items are not listed anywhere, e.g., waste baskets,

So our reserve study has a compilation of personal property within specific reserve components. Exceptions are personal property that is more costly and they are listed separately as their own reserve component, e.g., in the gym, each elliptical, each stationary bike, rowing machine, etc.

This, perhaps, is how your boats would be listed.

Is none of your HOA's personal property in your reserve study?

* Restated our CC&Rs a couple of years ago and thought we dumped the confusing word "personality," which means personal property. Missed one, I now see.

Marshall,

An Inventory Management software would work.

Do keep in mind that the posting rules prevent the mentioning of specific products or companies.

An internet search for inventory management or equipment inventory management will give you a slew of options.
