Is the driveway common ground

You posted this twice, so I'll start the responses here

Read your documents and see what they have to say. If you're in a single-family detached home, you may be responsible, but some (most?) documents can be difficult to read and figure out who's responsible for what. If it's not mentioned, ask your property manager or someone on the board and have them show you where this is in the documents. If that section has a list of who's responsible for what, make a note of it.

If it is not right do not do it; if it is not true do not say it. Marcus Aurelius

There is no one size fits all answer, it varies depending on the association. For Condos, generally any driveways would be common. For single family homes, most often not. For townhomes, patio homes, villas, could be either way. As Sheila mentioned, you need to review the documents for your particular association to find out. This could include the CCRs, Covenants, Master Deed, plat, or possibly some other document. Have you checked with board or management company? If so, do you have doubts about their interpretation?

As others have said, it will depend on your governing documents and how the development was built.

Do your covenants address driveways?

So, ConC, is your HOA detached homes? Townhomes?

The distinction between owners' obligations to maintain, repair, etc. and the Association's obligation to repair, etc. will be in a particular Article in your of your CC&Rs (which, as another pointed out might be called a declaration, the covenants, deed restrictions.)

If your documents define the driveway as "common area," th HOA will have more obligations that if the freeway is defined as your "separate interest," or as "limited common area" or similar words in AZ

At the very front of your CC&Rs are Defintions of many things in your HOA. Knowing the right language is important.

It all depends. Are you in a condo, townhouse or single family house? Even single family homes can be tricky if a cluster of 2, 4, 6 houses share one common driveway.
Your governing documents will tell you if your driveway is private or common.

A popular build here in Vegas is to build sets of 4 houses on a cul-de-sac and those 4 houses share one driveway. Then you get the owners of the front two houses
that use their garage for storage and park on both sides of the driveway leaving the back two houses one narrow path for ingress and egress.

The driveways in our HOA townhome association are the responsibility of the HOA Board.

Our association, via the CC&R, requires the homeowner to pressure wash the driveway, as minimum once every three years with this is not an unusual request.
