We have 95 homes, can we hold a special meeting in a homeowner's garage with the door open, maybe renting a screen and a microphone? We don't have a community room. Regards, Sue

I doubt your docs dictate a specific meeting location. Meet away, anywhere you desire to meet. An aside, I have heard of one BOD (a poster on this site) that met in the associations Hot Tub.

Often, bylaws will specify where certain kinds of meetings should be held. What kind of a meeting is it? Special Meeting of the Board? Or, Special Meeting of the Members? How many members typically attend each kind of meeting?

Maybe check with your local Fire Dept.??? I don't know about such things.

Meetings should be in a neutral location. You don't want someone tripping and falling on someone's property.
That would open a can of worms of lawsuits against the board and the homeowner and don't serve refreshments
or hors d'oeuvres and someone gets sick.

Hold your meeting in a neutral location like a library community room or a older Denny's that has a party room.
Usually they ask for beverage service to use the room.

Our association meets in a local library, no cost, meeting room.

We held ours at the local school (it was free).
We also held one in my home but encouraged proxies (it was a simple vote to raise assessments).
