We are in a single family HOA in Florida.

I cannot find this answer in Florida's statutes.

Are ARC committees required to hold public meetings?

Our new Management Company has a wonderful online system where the committee can manage all requests via the system.

As an FYI, no one ever attended the meetings that we had scheduled in the past.

TIA

Your HOA is subject to FS 720, correct?

FS 720.303(2)(a) says ARC meetings where a vote to approve/disapprove takes place must be open to owners, and notice for the ARC meeting must be provided.

Try to become accustomed to picking the right key words and then searching this for for the key words: http://www.leg.state.fl.us/STATUTES/index.cfm?App_mode=Display_Statute&URL=0700-0799/0720/0720.html

I had a vague recollection that Florida requires ARC meetings to be open to owners. To confirm, I just searched the above site for "committee."

ElleN is correct. If there are any reviews of ARC requests and votes (i.e. approvals/denials) happen, then the meeting must be posted in advance and open to members. Additionally, there is a requirement to specifically notify any member who's ARC request will be reviewed at that meeting.

If no such review will happen, then the ARC committee meeting can be private.
