Can anyone tell me about the new Florida law that has changed regarding pools where the home is unoccupied?

JeriD...to the best of my knowledge working with State Code Officials there is not a new law about pools in unoccupied homes. If you are talking about empty houses due to foreclosures etc..the responsibility now lies with the mortgage company..GOOD LUCK ON THAT ONE....if a home you see does not have the required fencing around the property contact your local building dept and they will investigate it for you...With all the recent rash of foreclosures maintaining these homes is going to be quite a challenge for most neighborhoods...LindaC3

I don't know about state laws, but your county health department should get involved if there is standing, untreated water. Harold

Thanks for the reply. I guess it might be about the foreclosures they were talking about. I was told there was a new law implemented on this. I will also talk to the building code officer to see if they know anything.

Jeri,
There is nothing on the Florida books about pools in unoccupied homes. There are "Barrier and Protection" laws but that is it.

Perhaps the County where you live has recently adopted new laws because of the unoccupied homes starting to be a problem but no State Laws.
