Does anyone find an optimal day of week and time of day to send subdivision-wide emails as far as doing it with a better chance to have the email noticed and read?

I've wondered about that too. Our PM sends 3-6 emails a week. Usually, imo, they're way tooooo long, which the management company(MC) prides itself in thinking is "good communication." They usually send 2-3 late Friday afternoon.

I don't know if the MC has learned that's a good timer the PM just cleaning up tasks before his weekend.

The only thing "solid" that I can suggest - "solid" in that this came from a collections person at our PMC - is that if the email involves any kind of follow-up interaction (with, for instance, the HOA) it's better to send it on Monday versus Friday, as the recipient probably won't read it until after 5pm and will spend the weekend stewing on the matter.

My personal and absolutely non-scientific observation / opinion is that many people will read email either early in the morning before they go to work, or later in the evening after they quit work. Some people catch up at lunch, but in general 8am-5pm M-F is not prime email-reading time for most people: either they don't have access to email during that time, or their work forbids it, or they simply don't / won't / can't deal with switching focus between work and personal email matters.

Bill brings up some very good points. For some reason, I've gotten out of the habit of reading my emails regularly and that's why I now have over 6K of the things! At least half are junk mail do ice started considering how much of this stuff I read - if I can cut the frequency in which they're sent, I'll do that.

I agree with Bill that most people look at emails early morning ir after work, but you never know what's going on in people's lives at any time that will throw everything off. You might want to do a poll to ask if people are happy with the frequency, would they prefer text messaging, or even not receiving messages unless it's something really serious. For example, they may care more about a lawn mowing schedule being changed than a deadline for turning in board candidate statementcan.

The responses will be all over the place, but you may see one or two trends, such as a desire fir text messages. Then you can look into what that might entail as well as the costs to see if it's more economical.

Of course, you should still post information on the community website in case peopke are more likely to go to that first- make sure to updated as often as you can.
